Referrals, however, can raise your visibility and trust instantly. The best approach is a hybrid system. Use portals for volume and discovery, but use networking for interview conversion. Create a shortlist of 20 target companies and connect with employees in relevant teams. When requesting referrals, be respectful and specific. Share your resume, role link, and 2-line pitch. Even a few referrals per month can outperform 200 random applications.
